What is XRKey?
XRKey is a software product for Virtual, Augmented and Mixed Reality platforms which allows users to type characters and perform hand-based text and data entry across a variety of XR systems and applications without the need for extra peripherals. The XRKey team at Legendary Gameworks is dedicated to creating a text entry solution that is not only portable and easy to use, but also strain-free and lightning fast; all without the need to tote around extra hardware.
XRKey aims to be the best universal text and data entry software on the planet for virtual, augmented and mixed reality systems (XR). We hope that you’ll help make XRKey a reality by following along, spreading the word and placing your pre-order when the project is nearing completion.
Why XR Key?
Typing with traditional keyboards is not only non-ergonomic, but the physical nature of hardware boards is hardly suited to the portable spatial computing of the future. XRKey is a software solution you can take with you anywhere.
Robust - Text Entry You Can Rely On
XRKey aims to be easily accessible, accurate, and efficient. We expect XRKey to hit a minimum average typing speed of 38 WPM — the same as a traditional QWERTY Keyboard — with little to no sacrifice of typing accuracy.
As a software solution running directly on its host operating system, XRKey is always there when you need it — whether you are in a noisy room, have messy hands, or when mobile devices or input peripherals run out of battery.
Universal - Works Anywhere
XRKey supports many fully articulated finger/hand tracking solutions and supports a variety of the most commonly used gesture input systems, including built in HMD hand tracking and legacy devices outfitted with third party-hand tracking hardware.
XRKey is a cross-platform typing solution, developed for XR platforms, including spatial computing platforms such as Windows Holographic and the Magic Leap Lumin SDK. If it runs XR, we’re planning to support it with XRKey.
Portable - Say Goodbye to Bluetooth
XRKey requires no hardware aside from a hand-tracking solution included in most XR hardware. If your hardware supports articulated finger tracking, XRKey will work out-of-the-box. You can count on XRKey whenever, wherever and however you run XR.
Why use a wearable keyboard when you can just use your hands? No additional wires, connections or external devices required.*
*Legacy VR/AR and other XR Systems without built-in tracking cameras or hand tracking support may require additional hand-tracking hardware to make use of XRKey.
